Week Five Preview

Week four of the college football season brought us a new quarterback at the helm of Louisiana Tech's offense but, unfortunately, the same result. The Bulldogs tallied their third loss of the season this past week.

C-USA has several games to check out this week including Tulsa hosting Iowa St., ECU taking on in-state rival UNC and Tulane traveling to Monroe to take on the Warhawks.

Here's a look at every game involving C-USA including 2014 league members Western Kentucky and Old Dominion plus Tech's non-conference opponents. Each game includes the Vegas line and my pick to win the game. My record currently stands at 32-12.

Yahoo! College Football Scoreboard

Lines are for entertainment purposes only, picks are head-to-head.

Iowa State (0-2) at Tulsa (1-2) - 6:30 p.m., FOX Sports 1
THE BUZZ: Tulsa will be hosting the 0-2 Cyclones of the Big 12 Thursday night. Iowa State has not looked good to this point of the season though neither has Tulsa. I expect this to be a close one because neither offense has moved the ball well.
THE LINE: Tulsa by 2.5
THE PICK: Iowa State
Middle Tennessee (3-1) at BYU (1-2) - 8:00 p.m., ESPNU/WatchESPN
THE BUZZ: Middle Tennessee currently owns the best record in C-USA at 3-1 and will be traveling to LaVell Edwards Stadium to take on the 1-2 BYU Cougars this week. BYU has two respectable losses; one to Virginia and one to Utah State by a combined 10 points. The Cougars defeated Texas in week two. MT has looked strong this season but the Blue Raiders did need overtime to get by FAU..
THE LINE: BYU by 21.5
East Carolina (2-1) at North Carolina (1-2) - 11:30 a.m., ESPN3
THE BUZZ: The Pirates had week four off after playing the Hokies of Virginia Tech right down to the wire. The Pirates look to bounce back against the Tar Heels with an extra week of preparation to do so.
THE LINE: UNC by 11.5
Navy (2-0) at Western Kentucky (2-2) - 1:00 p.m.,WatchESPN
THE BUZZ: Navy has a big win over Indiana on their resume and they are leading the country in rushing yards per game averaging nearly 400 per game. Western Kentucky had a big week one victory over SEC foe Kentucky but has since cooled off. The Hilltoppers will have a fight on their hands for sure.
THE LINE: Navy by 3
THE PICK: Western Kentucky
UTEP (2-1) at Colorado State (1-3) - 2:30 p.m., CBS Sports Network
THE BUZZ: UTEP will travel to Colorado State to take on the 1-3 Rams after dropping one to UTSA last week. The Rams have lost to one C-USA opponent already this season; the Miners aim to be the second.
THE LINE: Colorado State by 12
THE PICK: Colorado State
Army (1-3) at Louisiana Tech (1-3) - 3:00 p.m., FOX Sports 1
THE BUZZ: Louisiana Tech fans should certainly love the TV exposure that the Bulldogs have gotten since joining C-USA. The Bulldogs defense is ranked 55th in points against giving up only 22ppg. The defense played exceptionally well against Kansas last week, holding the Jayhawks to just 13 points. Army is ranked number 10 in the country in rushing yards per game topping 300. The Bulldogs run defense will be tested early and often in this one.
THE LINE: Tech by 1
Houston (3-0) at UTSA (2-2) - 3:00 p.m., Not Televised
THE BUZZ: The Roadrunners will be looking to hand the Houston Cougars their first loss of the season this weekend. Houston topped Rice last week by a score of 31-26 while UTSA defeated UTEP for their first ever conference victory.
THE LINE: Houston by 3
THE PICK: Houston
Albany (1-3) at Old Dominion (2-2) - 5:00 p.m., Not Televised
THE BUZZ: This one could get ugly early for the Mean Green. The Georgia Bulldogs are in the middle of the hardest stretch of their schedule coming off of a loss to Clemson week one followed by a victory over South Carolina in week 2 they now face the Mean Green before hosting LSU. Mark Richt has had an extra week to prepare for this game and I fully expect a blowout.
THE PICK: Old Dominion
Florida Atlantic (1-3) at Rice (1-2) - 6:00 p.m., Not Televised
THE BUZZ: FAU plays its second conference opponent in a row; last week FAU was defeated by Middle Tennessee. Rice played Houston close last week and I fully expect the Owls of Rice to defeat the Owls of FAU.
THE LINE: Rice by 13.5
Tulane (2-2) at ULM (2-2) - 6:00 p.m., ESPN3
THE BUZZ: The Green Wave will be traveling back to north Louisiana this weekend, this time to Monroe to take on the Warhawks of ULM. ULM was embarrassed by the Baylor Bears last weekend in a 77-7 loss. Tulane was also throttled in week four losing to Syracuse by a score of 52-17.
THE LINE: ULM by 12.5
UAB (1-2) at Vanderbilt (2-2) - 6:30 p.m., ESPN3
THE BUZZ: Vanderbilt has two losses on the season but both were to respectable SEC teams, Ole Miss and South Carolina. UAB defeated Northwestern State in week four but the Blazers' defense is allowing more points than the offense is scoring and I expect the Commodores to score a lot of points this week.
THE LINE: Vanderbilt by 19.5
THE PICK: Vanderbilt
Southern Miss (0-3) at Boise State (2-2) - 9:15 p.m., WatchESPN
THE BUZZ: The Broncos already have two losses on the young season including an unexpected to loss to former WAC foe Fresno St. by a score of 41-40. Southern Miss is still winless on the season and I don't expect that to change this week but fans of the Golden Eagles should be looking forward to next week when they take on FIU.
THE LINE: Boise State by 27.5
THE PICK: Boise State
