Dykes says quarterback to be decided in a day or two

RUSTON, La. - Wednesday night's scrimmage was designed to allow the La. Tech coaching staff a chance to see the quarterbacks play in another simulated game environment. Neither quarterback stood out above the other and the race seems to be a close as ever.
Head coach Sonny Dykes thinks it is time for the staff to make a decision.

"[Finding the best quarterback] is kind of why we did tonight," said Dykes. "I think it's time to [make a decision] and start moving forward."
Dykes said there is not necessarily a day that they would like to have a quarterback by but since they begin game preparation for Southern Miss tomorrow it could be in the next couple of days.
"We haven't decided by any certain day," Dykes said. "But tomorrow we are going to start working on Southern Miss primarily. So, I think in the next day or two."

"The good thing is [the quarterback battle] has been a very competitive race," Franklin said. "Nick has come in and put pressure on Colby and made him better."
When deciding who will be the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs the staff will not only look at the statistics and tangible attributes of each guy but will look at the intangibles.
"We'll look at the intangibles and try to pick who can win for us," Franklin said. "The good thing is it is not an easy decision. Sometimes you just have to go by gut instincts and pick somebody and play him and bet your job that it works out."
