Louisiana Tech's 2014 class was already a pretty good one and got a big bump this evening with a commitment from a 6-foot-11 center from Mississippi.
That player is Joniah White. White chose Tech over Wichita State, Murray State, Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss and others.
Tech had been on White from the very beginning and that strong relationship helped in landing the big man.
"It's a relief to have [the recruiting process] all over with," White said.
"[Tech] had been tracking since day one and went and took a visit and loved the campus and loved the players and the coaches and felt like it was going to be the best fit for me."
Tech head basketball coach Mike White and Joniah White's former high school coach Rahim Lockhart of Madison Central High School (Miss.) were teammates at Ole Miss.
"Coach Lockhard said Coach White is an all around good guy and he'll be blunt with me and tell me what I need to be doing and pushes his guys to the limit."
The relationship with Tech's White and Lockhart played a big role in the commitment of Joniah to Tech.
"It played a big part, because I wasn't going to go to a place where I didn't know the person recruiting me on face to face basis."
