Louisiana Tech has added a receiver to its offense in former South Florida Bull, Sterling Griffin.
Griffin, a 6-foot, 195-pound receiver finished his career at South Florida with 838 yards and 6 touchdowns. Last season he played in two games before having knee surgery and had 2 catches for 43 yards.
"I am exciting that Sterling has decided to join us," head coach Skip Holtz said. "I am excited about what he brings to the table as a person, as a student-athlete who has already received his undergraduate degree and as a football player."
With several NCAA waivers still outstanding, Griffin brings experience to the Bulldogs receiving corps. We project him to likely play outside receiver.
Griffin graduated from South Florida this past Saturday and will be a graduate student at Louisiana Tech allowing him to play right away for the Bulldogs.
UPDATE: After this season, Griffin may have the ability to apply for a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA much like what several current Bulldogs are waiting on right now because injuries he sustained while at South Florida.
