Tech announces the signing of King and Abraham

Monday, Louisiana Tech announced the signings of junior college defensive back Damarion King (6-1, 190) and Oxford Miss. quarterback Jack Abraham (6-0, 190). Both King and Abraham visited Ruston this past weekend and committed to the Bulldogs during their visit.

DAMARION KING

King is a versatile defensive back from Muscle Shoals, Ala. native who while playing cornerback at Alan Hancock College will play safety for the Bulldogs. A knack for the endzone is obvious with King, on two interceptions he returned both for touchdowns and on three fumble recoveries he returned one for a touchdown.

“I am excited about adding an upperclassman safety in DaMarion King to our team,” Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz said. “He brings experience, maturity and athleticism along with a hard-hitting approach to the game. His addition fills a void as we add an upperclassman to a secondary that just graduated three of its four starters.”

JACK ABRAHAM

At one point, Abraham was committed to Tulane but when Curtis Johnson got the axe and Willie Fritz was hired a drastic change in offensive philosophy was obvious and a mass exodus of commitments for the Green Wave started -- of which Abraham was a part of.

As a senior, Abraham won the Gatorade Player of the Year award for the state of Mississippi.

“Jack is an impressive player that was named Gatorade Player of the Year in Mississippi which is an incredibly high honor,” Holtz said. “He had a huge amount of success in high school and brings some rare physical skills as well as a great understanding of offensive football. I am excited that he has the chance to be here in the spring so he can learn the offense and get adjusted.”

For his high school career, Abraham amassed 12,021 yards passing and a completion percentage of 64%, 130 touchdowns and only 28 interceptions. His senior year's stats were just plain gaudy, 5091 yards, 65.8% completions, 57 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
