The next stop for Elijah Walker is Ruston; the Amite quarterback and Louisiana Tech commit ended his high school career with a valiant performance in a 40-36 loss in the 3A state championship game to Lutcher.

Walker was the obvious focal point of Lutcher's defensive gameplan, ensuring any option runs were geared away from Walker and to the running back. As the game continued, Amite increased the use of designed quarterback runs and Walker took advantage, leading Amite to a two-point halftime lead.

Walker's running -- especially behind pulling guards in power schemes -- opened room in the intermediate passing game, and Walker took advantage, throwing his second touchdown pass in the fourth quarter as part of a furious comeback effort.

Lutcher's attention on Walker was merited as he turned in a standout performance even in the loss. As the passing lanes opened in the third quarter, Walker showed the willingness to stand in the pocket and throw over the middle of the field, despite being sacked and pressured throughout the first half.

Against Lutcher, Walker filled up the stat sheet as he was 18 for 27 passing for 270 yard and two touchdowns while also running for 100 and two more touchdowns.

Walker, a 2-star dual-threat, committed to Tech before the season, passing on offers from schools like Memphis, Colorado State, South Alabama and Temple. BleedTechBlue will have more in the coming days from Walker detailing his recruitment.
