Vernon Butler invited to attend NFL Draft

Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Vernon Butler is one of only 25 players invited to attend the NFL Draft in Chicago.

Butler has been flying up mock drafts since the Senior Bowl when he had a breakout performance. He's been tabbed as a possible first round pick but could worst case be a second round pick. Other Tech first round picks were Terry Bradshaw (1970), Roger Carr (1974), Willie Roaf (1993) and Troy Edwards (1999).

Butler is believed to be the first Bulldog to be invited to attend the NFL Draft.

He's the only player from a university in the state of Louisiana and only G5 player. North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz will be the only FCS attendee.
