Louisiana Tech has been on a roll in recent weeks and it left an impression on Blinn College Offensive Lineman Drew Kirkpatrick. "Everything actually happened over the course of about three weeks," admitted Kirkpatrick. "The visit really did it for me. Also, the fan support from the community and the students made an awesome game day atmosphere."

Kirkpatrick, a 6-4 310-pound native of Uvalde, TX, can play multiple positions across the offensive line. He was recruited to Louisiana Tech by O-line Coach Robert McFarland. "I prefer center and that’s where they want me," explained Kirkpatrick. "I have the plus of being big enough to play guard and Coach Mac said I would be able to come in and keep it going."

The Bulldogs return two experienced interior linemen in O’Shea Dugas and Ethan Reed, but lose seniors Joseph Brunson, Kirby Wixson, and David Mahaffey. Kirkpatrick should come in and compete for a starting spot from day one.

When asked how his current college town (Brenham, TX) compares to Ruston and how hard it is to stay away from Blue Bell ice cream; Kirkpatrick laughed. "Brenham, Ruston, and my hometown (Uvalde) are all very similar. Not much is different and Blue Bell (based in Brenham) is awesome.

Kirkpatrick holds offers from LA Tech, UMASS, and ULM as well as several FCS programs and he also drew interest from USM, UNLV, UNT, and Kansas State among others. "LA Tech really just simply had all the tools for me to be successful at what I do," added Kirkpatrick.
