Diamond Dogs Split Series with Pepperdine

Louisiana Tech (2-2) began its 2018 campaign 1,722 miles from home in Malibu, California. Pepperdine was the opponent and the new-look Bulldogs managed to split the series after losing two of their first three.

The Bulldogs pitched extremely well throughout the weekend. The quartet of Matt Miller, Logan Robbins, Tyler Follis, and Logan Bailey combined to pitch 23 innings and only allowed three earned runs. It’s safe to say that the starting pitching was exceptional in Malibu for the Bulldogs.

In all, 12 pitchers toed the rubber for Tech and limited the Waves to a .201 batting average while allowing only six earned runs. The six earned runs in 36.1 innings were good for a 1.49 team era.

Offensively, the Bulldogs started slowly only scoring four runs in the first three games before exploding for nine runs in the game four victory.

Mason Mallard began his Louisiana Tech career with a bang, hitting .353 on the weekend with two doubles and his first home run as a Bulldog. Parker Bates hit .357 and stole two bases.

The Bulldogs will now return home for a midweek contest with McNeese State that is set for a 6PM first pitch Tuesday night.
