Notes from spring practice vol. 2 - weekend summary

Defensively, the Bulldogs are looking very good. The line seems to be in good shape. Aljoshua Tillman could be a opposing physical force at end. The tackles seem to be playing very well as well. Ramone Randle seems to have dropped some weight over the offseason. The linebackers are flying to the ball. Adrien Cole and Solomon Randle are both out with an injuries, but RS freshman Kendrick James is getting valuable snaps as a result. Jay Dudley continues to show he is one of the fastest linebackers on the field. In the defensive backfield, Coaches Tommy Spangler and Kevin Curtis seem to be putting more pressure on the passing game than last season with press coverage. Junior college transfer Justin Goodman may be in a no contact red jersey, but he is active on the sidelines mimicking the movements of the other cornerbacks showing great work ethic. Josh Victorian is proving to be our best interception threat, but if the route goes over 15 or 20 yards, he is probably burned. Thus, Victorian seems to be a nickleback.
Offensively, the quarterback race is well underway and Doak Raulston seems the most comfortable in the offense thus far, but needs to refine his deep ball more. Colby Cameron is probably the third quarterback if the season started today and Steven Ensminger the backup. Ross Jenkins has been absent from practice following the sudden passing of his father. At wide receiver, Tim Molton has already positioned himself as one of the most dynamic playmakers on the field. Cruz Williams needs to turn it up as he has much more competition this season at his position than last year. Jacarri Jackson, D.J. St. Julien, Sharman Brown, Richie Caseyand Ahmad Paige are all having good practices and have proven that once Tech finds a quarterback they will be a force to be reckoned with through the air. Add tightends Eric Harper and Chandler Spence and this offense could be potent. With the injury bug biting the running backs, Lennon Creer, D.J. Morrow, and (newly converted back running back) Lyle Fitte have been getting lots of touches with Creer being the obvious biggest playmaker out of the backfield.
