Tech adds second WR to 2017 class

Louisiana Tech received a commitment Saturday from Stamps, Ark. Lafayette County High School's Cualan Williams (6-3, 205) who visited Ruston Friday with his family.

Williams is an athletic outside receiver with very good length. Finishing his junior campaign with 23 catches for 683 yards and 13 touchdowns while also returning 5 punts for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns shows why Tech wanted him.

He told BleedTechBlue.com the decision was an easy one.

"It wasn't even close," Williams said. "I love the coaching staff and what they are trying to do. Their campus and facilities are great, plus I want to be a part of the history that I know we're going to make."

During the visit the Tech every coach made an impact and sold Williams on being a Bulldog, but Tim Rattay is his primary recruiter.

"All the coaches said something that really stuck to me but what really set them apart from any other school that ever talked to me was that they care about my education. They already know I can play ball and I handle my business in the classroom but to constantly remind me about school and telling me about the ways they can help me learn easier is very important to me."

With a 3.0 GPA and a 21 on the ACT Williams has done his part in the classroom for there to be no concern with him qualifying through the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Holding offers from Kent State, ULM and Tech at the time of his commitment he says Arkansas, Wake Forest, Arkansas State and Baylor had been talking about an offer.
