Amik Robertson was among Louisiana Tech's unofficial visitors Saturday. The versatile athlete made a connection to the Tech coaching staff that made the difference for him.

"The connection I made with coach (Kevin) Curtis and the whole coaching staff made Tech standout above everyone else. I believe they will develop me into a great student-athlete."

Holding offers from the Big 12, Pac 12, AAC, Mountain West and Conference USA, Robertson was not expecting to make the trip to Ruston and commit - but that is what happened.

"Well, not really," Robertson said when asked whether he thought before the trip he wanted to make a commitment somewhere soon. "But I did say whatever school fit me, had a plan for me and really wants me is a school I will attend. I talked to the players, coaches and even some fans. They all said Tech really takes care of you."

His favorites heading into the weekend he says were Tech, Tulane, Louisiana-Lafayette, K-State and Colorado State.

Former Tech standout, Phillip Livas, from nearby Houma has quite the reputation n the area and even congratulated Robertson on his commitment on twitter. He and Livas have not met yet but he's heard how dynamic Livas was and says he heard he's an "even better person."

High praise is coming out of Southeast Louisiana about Robertson. Draft expert, and resident of the Thibodeaux area, Mike Detillier tweeted this week after Robertson's commitment to Tech saying St. Charles Catholic head coach Frank Monica is a better high school football player than Odell Beckham, Jr. Later, replying to someone saying Monica thinks Robertson is faster on the field the Beckham.
